At Communicare Training we have a small core team with complimentary skills and expertise, led by our founder Mike Evison. Our clinical educators collaborate with highly-talented professional actors who bring our sessions to life. We believe a kind and supportive approach to teaching is the best way to facilitate learning and create safe and caring environments in our workshops. We recognise the amazing talents of all our participants and our approach promotes peer-to-peer learning too. We have strict internal quality control procedures to ensure we offer the service our customers deserve and constantly evaluate our techniques and materials based on participant and customer feedback to continue to improve our product.
Through our professional experience, and backed up theoretically by our educational qualifications, we believe in a mixed methodological approach to teaching and learning. However, "experential learning" is at the heart of our approach.
We write bespoke simulation scenarios to mimic the reality of your working environments. They are brought to life by our team of professional actors and we create a safe space for your employees to practice their existing as well as learn new skills.
Our industry has been dominated in recent years by expensive technology to try and make simulation feel real. We believe that so much can be achieved purely through well-written scenarios that our incredible actors make feel completely real.
Our strength lies within our ability to recognise and overcome communication barriers which may be limiting the potential of both individuals and teams. No workshop ever runs the same and we adapt in real time to meet the needs of our learners.
Learners continually feedback to us that they leave our sessions confident in their ability to use the new knowledge and skills they have gained from an environment in which they feel personally invested in and cared for.
We can be flexible with different budgets but can guarantee you will not be dissatisfied with our work. We believe we offer a fantastic return on investment whether this is from increased productivity of staff or one of the many other potential benefits to your team from working with us.
Hi, I'm Mike and I am a psychiatrist at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT) with a special interest in Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry. I have always loved teaching and was an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and Year 3 Deputy Module Lead in Psychiatry for Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) leading to being awarded their 3rd Year Psychiatry Tutor of the Year in 2022. I sit on the Winterhead Section 12 Approval Panel appraising the applications of doctors wishing to become approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and was also runner-up of the "Higher Trainee of the Year" award in 2022 from the Kent Sussex and Surrey School of Psychiatry. I have built on my educational and clinical experience as a Simulation Fellow from August 2022 - 2023 whilst also completing a post-graduate certificate in Simulation in Clinical Practice.
Having worked in many different specialties in the last 10 years I know the challenges of working in the NHS. Through discussions with friends across multiple industries it is also clear to me that many of the issues we face in the NHS also occur there, hence why our specialised skills can help outside of healthcare settings too. At Communicare, I promote fun and effective learning, with the aim of increasing staff happiness, confidence and competence, and therefore improving patient care. When I’m not pouring my energy and enthusiasm into simulation, I’m charging after my two, mischievous, young sons.
